Designed by Gerald Genta, who also designed Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak, among others, the Nautilus was launched in 1976 and was the manufacturer's first luxury sports watch made of steel. Nicknamed “Jumbo” due to its impressive 42 mm diameter, which was large for the time, this model (ref. 3700) had a difficult start, and it wasn't until 1980 that smaller versions appeared as alternatives, with the mid-size automatic ref. 3800, ref. 3900, and the ladies' version ref. 4700. The Nautilus 3900 is a medium-sized, 33 mm version of the iconic “Jumbo” model, offering a more versatile and compact alternative to the original model while retaining design elements such as the monobloc case and the famous fluted dial. Also known as the “Boy Size” Nautilus, its size makes it perfect for both men and women. This model, only 6.6 mm thick, is equipped with the E23 SC quartz movement. The watch comes with its Patek Philippe archive extract. The case and bezel have been repolished in the past and show some signs of wear on the bezel at 10 o'clock. The case back shows some signs of wear. The original dial and hands are in excellent condition. The movement is working perfectly. We have no service history.
